Ingredient Desk is published by the team behind
Evil Goods. This page states exactly what that means, what we will and will not
claim, and what happens when we get something wrong.
The ownership, stated plainly
This site is published by the people who own Evil Goods, a
direct-to-consumer skincare brand selling tallow-based products. When we write
about tallow, copper peptides, magnesium or aluminium-free deodorant, we are
writing about ingredient categories we sell into. That is a commercial interest
and you should read us with it in mind.
We are not paid by anyone else for placement or for a favourable mention, and
no third party reviews our articles before publication.
What we will not claim
Cosmetics are regulated on what they may say. A product that supports the
skin barrier is a cosmetic; a product that treats a condition is a drug, and
almost nothing on the natural skincare shelf has been approved as one.
On this site: no claim that an ingredient treats, cures, heals or relieves a
medical condition. No implied SPF or sun-protection performance. No
“chemical-free”, “non-toxic” or “zero toxins” — those are indefensible and
this audience knows it.
This applies to Evil Goods too. Where their own product copy
claims more than we would, we do not repeat it here, and we would rather
contradict a page we own than inherit a claim we cannot stand behind.
How we choose what to link to
We link to the most useful source we can find — frequently a
regulator’s, frequently a competitor’s, frequently a brand we have no
relationship with. Where we link to Evil Goods, it is labelled.
Corrections
We publish daily and we will get things wrong. When we do, the article is
corrected on the page and the correction is noted rather than quietly deleted.

AI use
Research and drafting on this site are assisted by software. Every article is
checked against pinned ingredient facts and claim rules before publication. The
editorial judgement, and the responsibility for what appears here, is human.
